1st grade art lessons for kids

Art lessons on this web site are easy to follow with step-by-step photographs of each art project.  All art lessons leave room for creative expression.  Each art class, geared for elementary age children, has references, step-by-step pictures, + a lesson plan.  website can also be helpful to teachers, nannies or adults who are interested in learning how to make art.  Scroll down on each project page for all the information.  These projects can even be completed by young children without adult direction.  All they need to do is follow the steps.  Some mediums that might be used are paper, crayons, makers, tempera paints, watercolor paints, oil pastels, clay, or a combination of mediums.

warm colors + organic shapes in tempera

This is an abstract tempera painting lesson for elementary, first grade students using only warm colors + organic shapes.  With this lesson students gain an understanding of warm colors, + learn what shapes are considered organic.

cool colors + geometric shapes
